Open Space Music is delighted to be invited by Reimann Music to Revelation Gallery to present Madang Tuesday, an evening of works by composer Raimundo Penaforte and works-in-progress by 5 artists. Reimann Music is led by pianist, composer and singer/songwriter Hannah Reimann, and OSM is happy to join our communities together in the Village for this event. Madang is a Korean word that means an open space in a village, usually outdoors, where varied activities such as performances, public meetings, and festivals take place. It is also a time and space where boundaries that exist between different groups of people, including performers and audience, fade away. Inspired by a broad range of musical genres that span classical, Latin, jazz and traditional folkloric music from his native Brazil, Raimundo Penaforte has appeared nationally and internationally as a composer and performer. His works have been performed in venues as Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro, Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The White House and The Kennedy Center. The second half of the show will feature artists who also break boundaries and work courageously to forge new ground in performance and composition.
